Go With The Flow

Flowing by Glacier and through the town of Durango is the sparkling Animas River. This “gold medal” fishery attracts fly-fishermen with its highest quality brown and rainbow trout. The river also brings visitors who seek outdoor enjoyment—from kayaking and canoeing to the rollicking fun of river rafting to the exhilaration of cliff jumping from Baker’s Bridge, featured in the Western classic Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Or take a class in the area’s brand new sport, river surfing, on display at the annual Animas River Days.

Nearby Dolores and San Juan Rivers are fabulous fly-fishing destinations with campgrounds, day use areas, and scenic riverside walking trails.
